PoshPulse

For this project, I created a fashion magazine titled PoshPulse, focusing on the exploration of fashion across the past century. It features fashion trends from every decade and how they evolved, alongside other facts and fashion history. As someone interested in fashion, I wanted to create a project that combined my passion for fashion with my design skills. By using visual storytelling, I aimed to push myself both creatively by illustrating every page. By using Adobe platforms, I created this entire magazine from scratch. I challenged myself further by limiting my color palette to think about contrast, tone, and composition effectively.

My process began with thorough research into fashion trends from the 1920s through today. I selected a few of my favorites to highlight in my final projects. I researched several design movements, such as Art Deco, grunge, and how they influenced what people wore in different decades. I didn’t just want to showcase clothes, but I wanted to capture emotion and the spirit of the time as well. This research was crucial to my designs to create a strong foundation. I also studied past publications, such as Vogue, to see fashion trends at the time and draw inspiration from them. By looking at real examples from the decades, I made very deliberate design choices in PoshPulse, giving it a true feel of a magazine.

I also carefully considered tone and narrative within my magazine. While the pages are strictly illustration-based, each spread tells a story of the decade they are in. I approached this aspect as not only an illustrator, but a professional creating a brand identity. It helped me curate a perfect aesthetic that is luxury-focused and fashion-forward. This magazine serves as a personal portfolio piece that reflects my professional goals and ability to conceptualize, illustrate, and design a publication on my own while communicating clearly with the audience.
